TAFE Queensland requires proficiency in the English language before you can begin formal studies. This is determined by one of the following prerequisites:-

  • International English Language Testing System IELTS, academic module score of 5.5 with no individual score less than 5;
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language TOEFL - score of 530 PBT or 197 CBT;

About Study

The course provides participants with an in-depth understanding of skin biology and skin science, including knowledge of skin disorders, nutrition and physiology/anatomy.

Training is given in beauty therapy services including facials, waxing, tinting, manicures and pedicures and make-up; the core business of beauty therapy.

Students apply their skills and gain valuable practical experience by providing beauty sevices to clients in our on-campus salon.

Students are also taught about retail and business procedures and merchandising.

Assessment

Assessment is undertaken throughout the course both in practical and theory exercises. Assessment is competency based and requires the completion of all projects and assignments, written and/or practical, as set out within the Unit Study Guides and Workbooks. Written, verbal and practical assessments make up the majority of assessments, but grooming, hygiene, attendance, general attitude and your application to your studies are also taken into account.
